10.) You Got The Love by Florence + The Machine

When I listen to this song, it reminds me of my family, or anyone's family. Families are supposed to be there for you when you are upset, depressed, or bitter, and this song shows that example. Like in the lyrics, "Sometimes it seems like the going is too rough, and things go wrong no matter what I do, now and then it seems that life is just too much, but you've got the love to see me through." It describes that your family understands you ("You've got the love to see me through"(meaning that your family could tell if you're angry, pessimistic, excited, etc.)) and that you could count on them to help you with your problems. That's why there is "Sunday Family Time" or those quiet moments during dinner when all of a sudden your parents ask, "How was your day at school, sweetie?" so that you could share what's going on in your life and they could help. This is something my mom does, taking me and my sister out to ice cream or some kind of treat so we could have "Girl Talk".

9.) Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood

I can relate to this song by just living in Vietnam. I'm not saying that Vietnam is horrible, because I am Vietnamese, but sometimes I just feel like I don't belong here. For example,"This is my temporary home, it's not where I belong, windows and rooms that I'm passin' through, this is just a stop on the way where I'm going, I'm not afraid because I know this is my temporary home" in the chorusMost of the time, I think that it's because I can't really understand what people are saying and because of that, I don't know what is happening around me, so I feel left out. I have a lot of thoughts of what would happen to me if I lived back in California, even questioning myself, such as "Would it affect my future?". But I think that California is where I belong, becuase my friends there stragely understand me, and almost all my family lives there, literally. Either way, friends and family are probably the most important things in life so my reasoning makes sense. In conclusion, Vietnam is currently my "temporary home" and California is where I should really go.

8.) Melancholy Astronautic Man by Allie Moss

When I heard this song, instead of having a memory, I thought of a phrase. The phrase I thought of was "opposites attract". I think the meaning of this phrase is that this can be between friends or lovers. They can have nothing in common yet still be together. Me and my friend have this connection and when I tell her this, she wouldn't really understand what I am saying. I thought of this when only one part of the lyrics of the song came up ("You know that you're falling without a place to land, your heart, and you are worlds apart, even if she's in your arms"). What I can also relate to when listening to this song is that I also "say the things you know will spark her laughter" when I am with my friends.

7.) Kiss With A Fist by Florence + The Machine

While I was running out of songs to put in this playlist, I came across this song and I was immediately reminded of the relationship between my little brother and I. Almost every single word is KIND OF true. Parts of the lyrics that had me reminded was the first words ("you hit me once, I hit you back. You gave a kick, I gave a slap"). My little brother loves fighting back and making things even, VERY violently, and the music theme really represents that. The words that make me smile most is the "kiss with a fist" part. I think this relates to me and my little brother a lot because whenever my parents of relatives tell us to cut it out and just love each other, we do listen to them, but just end up hating each other again.

6.) Dream by Priscilla Ahn

To me, this song relates to what I really want to do when I'm bored or depressed. To walk in the woods, away from everybody, time to actually listen to what is around me , and to be alone to get some quiet time. I mostly love planning ahead and think about my future or what to do later on when I really begin to have a life. I think I also relate to this song because I am mostly "alone in my little world". I really like when the singer says she "had a dream that I could fly from the highest swing". Personally, I think that everyone dreams those kinds of dreams when you dream about yourself in the top of the world or just really happy, big - I mean big - dreams about yourself. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure there aren't many forests near where I live, considering that this is Ho Chi Minh City we're talking about.

5.) Pack Up by Eliza Doolittle

I find the theme of this song really cheerful. I think this song is either about secrets being told or being a topic that everyone talks about in a negative way. Either way, these are both problems that everyone can relate to. This song is probably all about decisions, trust, and individuality. I can relate to this by just telling you that this is EVERYWHERE. I experienced this my whole life. I've seen friends and even peers do this. Talking about other behind their backs, telling secrets just for entertainment, and even the occasional spill without thinking (this is something I do a lot). Like in the lyrics "They don't think what they say before they open their mouth". To me, the singer is telling us that even if you're the talk of the town, you don't need to stress about what others think of you, just of what you think of yourself. I think the singer makes this song give you smiles by just her voice and the old-fashioned theme of the song. Those combined would remind me of spring.

4.) Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's

I really, really, really love this song. I think this song is so simple yet so adorable. And I would dedicate it to my older brother who is in college in Pennsylvania. He loved this song and every time I listen to this, I always thought of him. Whenever he calls us, my brother tells us that he misses us a lot and is really exited to come visit over the summer. The real reason I put this on my playlist was because when the singer describes his loved one being really far away and missing her, but he knows that it would be okay because he would see her soon. This reminds me of what my brother tells me because we both know that we just need patience to see each other again.

3.) Green Eyes by Coldplay

I love, I mean, LOVE this song. It's so sweet and moving. But I like this song for a whole different purpose. The green eyes. I really want green eyes because of this song. The way the singer says that the girl who has those eyes makes her seem so special and different. Like in the line "And anyone who tried to deny you, must be out of their mind" and "Yeah the spotlight, shines upon you". One thing that I don't like about the song is that when the singer says "I came here with a load, and it feels so much lighter, now I met you". While I was listening to this song and came across that line, the first thing that I thought was that when he met Green Eyes, he took a GIANT..... um, well I guess you know what I mean, right?

2.) Remember by Misty Miller

I think this song it about having crushes, and even worse, never being noticed by him or her. Everybody has had crushes before and so did I. People change their looks for their love lives to change their mind about what they think about you ALL the time. In this song, the singer is telling us that she fantasizes about her crush and changes herself from her hair to clothes, piercings to height, and from her talents to more height! For example, like in the words, "It's been a while and I learned new tricks, and now I'm almost five foot six, wondering just where you are, could you really be that far, maybe if you saw me today, you'd see me in a different way, see me in another light and love me whatever my height". And even then he still doesn't notice her, and because of that, her heart is broken. This also happened to me once but I wasn't really heart-broken, just a little less than that, like upset. This song also taught me a life lesson: don't waste so much time looking good if you know that your guy could care less, especially at this age.

1.) Dear True Love by Sleeping At Last

This song isn't about any guy, but is for my two dogs which are both apparently... um... dead. The first one died of getting beat up, but it wasn't me. Then the second one died of some disease, and I'm not trying to sound like a murderer or anything, but they died young. *silence*. Aaanyways, these dogs meant a lot to me, as you can see in the song lyrics, meaning that I wouldn't really be anything without my dear puppies. To me, my dogs are my family, and being without them is like losing a huge piece of me. One of my favorite lines were when the singer said "I'm a memory bent out of shape" because having two deaths before me makes my childhood experiences more negative.
